Brass Eye

Employer: Zeppotron – Talk Back

Position: Animator

In December 2001, Chris Morris approached the comedy production company Zeppotron to create hoax internet games for his Brass Eye Special. Due to the sensitivity of the subject matter, Zeppotron hired me as an outside contractor to develop a child’s interactive internet game.

This involved creating an animated character and a web video game designed to convince celebrities that it was real. The broadcast of the final show caused significant controversy and, at the time, became the most complained-about program in UK television history. However, it later won several awards, including Best Comedy Programme in 2002 by Broadcast Magazine.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Hired as the main animator for the Pantu the Dog game.
  • Designed and created the Pantu dog character.
  • Programmed the internet Flash game.
  • Collaborated with Chris Morris and Charlie Brooker on the development of the hoax internet game.

Achievements:

  • Successfully delivered the final animation on time and within budget.
  • The final show was awarded Best Comedy Programme in 2002 by Broadcast Magazine.
