Kent TV

Employer: Kent County Council – Ten Alps

Position: Video Journalist

Kent TV was the first online video news service in the UK, run by Bob Geldof’s production company Ten Alps and financed by Kent County Council. I was recruited as a freelance video journalist to research and develop stories, film on location, interview subjects, and edit and produce final videos for the web. Working at Kent TV was challenging, as the requirement was to handle every production role in creating the final video. This was demanding, as new videos had to be made every day from Maidstone Studios in Kent.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Researched local news stories.
  • Acted as consultant and point of contact with Kent County Council.
  • Operated cameras for stories across Kent County.
  • Conducted interviews and presented stories.
  • Edited and produced final videos.
  • Hosted and delivered videos to the web.

Achievements:

  • Successfully produced daily video stories for the website.
  • Reported and edited multiple stories about people and events in the Kent region.
  • Took on all production roles, including researching stories, filming on location, conducting interviews, and editing final videos.
